Arab Insight is a groundbreaking, independent diplomacy effort dedicated to bringing diverse Arab voices directly into the political discourse and policy debates in Washington. The journal will offer in-depth analyses and commentaries on issues pertinent to the region, including perspectives from individuals in the media, government, civil society and academia, allowing voices in the Middle East to be better represented in the marketplace of ideas and debate in the United States. The editors welcome guest opinions, articles, and contributions.

Our work is centered on the belief that through dialogue and information, we can foster improved relations at the public level and build bridges of tolerance and understanding between the Arab world and the West. Topics such as democracy in the Middle East, the relationship between Islam and politics, American foreign policy in the Middle East, among many others, will be addressed in our issues.

The first issue contains important works on Islam, Political Islam and America:

I. U.S. Foreign Policy and Islamists

  • "Is Brotherhood with America Possible?" Khalil Al-Anani, Egypt
  • "Alone at the Ballot Box: American Rejection of Islamists," Atef Abou Saif, Palestinian Territory
  • "Trial and Error: Washington and Iraq's Shiite," Ibrahim Al-Baydani, Iraq
  • "The Cold Embrace: United States and Islamists in North Africa," Mohamed El-Ghali, Morocco
