INTERNATIONAL MEDIA
The International Media division bridges the gulf of misunderstanding that exists between the United States and the rest of the world by presenting facts, information and a diversity of voices and opinions. Johnson’s Russia List continues to serve as the premier source of English-language news about the countries of the former Soviet Union. The institute’s foreign language information service - Washington Observer (Chinese) – bridges social and cultural gaps and educate audiences across the globe about policy choices within the United States.

David Johnson, Editor in Chief
It has been the mission of Johnson's Russia List (JRL) since 1996 to provide timely, comprehensive, diverse, and reliable information about the vast and complex subject, Russia. JRL currently goes to more than 6,500 Russia-watchers around the world and is widely used by journalists, government officials, business people, NGO organizations, researchers, academics and students.

Washington Observer Weekly, a project of International Media Division at the World Security Institute, is an independent Chinese-language news e-magazine for mainland Chinese who have a professional or personal interest in American foreign policy, politics and U.S.-China relations. Based in Washington D.C., Washington Observer provides exclusive interviews and independent news analyses to explain stories behind the U.S. headlines. Washington Observer articles are widely reprinted in Chinese mainstream media. With 150,000 recipients predominantly composed of journalists, scholars and policy-makers in Mainland China, Washington Observer has emerged as a leading source of information for China.
