Whitney Parker is the Communications Director at the Center for Defense Information and World Security Institute. She manages all aspects of public affairs and strategic communications, including media relations, publications, electronic communications, and events. In addition to communications work, she is also the internship coordinator for CDI and the coordinator of the bi-monthly publication the Defense Monitor. Prior to becoming the communications director, she was a research assistant for the Straus Military Reform Project and Space Security Project with CDI.

Before joining CDI, Ms. Parker served as a research intern at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, and as a research assistant for The Wilderness Society and Boise State University in Idaho. Ms. Parker holds a B.S. in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations and certification as a professional mediator from Boise State University. She will complete a Master of Arts, International Relations degree at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University specializing in Intercultural Communication and Negotiation in May 2006.
